My real name is jeff vier. I am 27 years old, male, some mutt caucasian-type-thing. i'm not sure of my exact heritage, as i am adopted, but it's mostly german. I like to be healthy - I don't drink much alcohol, (save for the occasional glass of bourbon - my current drink-of-choice), and don't do drugs or smoke with any amount of regularity (nor have I ever). My friends will occasionally have a nice cigar, of which I will also partake, or perhaps smoke a pipe. If this happens more than once every couple of months it's very unusual.
I am employed by Trading Technologies. I am the Senior Unix/Linux Administrator here, meaning I make the web servers go, for the most part. (It's actually a whole lot more than that - either you already know what I d or it's not worth my time to explain it all for the blank stare that would result).
When I went to school, I attended the University of Cincinnati. I was most recently in Electronic Media out of the College-Conservatory of Music. That involves broadcasting, videography, and audio/video production (and the like). I actually took few, if any, classes from C.C.M. I took almost everything from D.A.A.P. (College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning). The reason being that C.C.M. doesn't allow people outside the major to take any classes for E-Media, but D.A.A.P.šs classes are all generally open-admission, so i hung out in C.C.M. to get the best of both worlds.
Also, when I was in school, I was the Senior Teaching Assistant/Technical Assistant to Dr. Robert W. Hatfield in Human Sexuality (Dept. of Psych). It's a great class. You should take it. It's worth it just to see a video of people masturbating on a 50 foot screen. <smile>
I live in the East Village in Chicago, Illinois. That's "just South of Wicker Park" for those not 'in the know'. I just got back to Chicago from that rancid shithole they call San Francisco at the end of May (2001). I hate San Francisco. It's great to be back.
I have two cats Serval, who is half white siamese and half manx. So, he's pretty much white (though he's been getting "rusty" in the past few years, but he's pretty much white), and doesn't have a tail (manx don't have tails). He also has bright blue eyes (from the siamese side of things) - fortunately he isn't deaf, as many white siamese with blue eyes are (apparently). He's jacked-up in the rear like a rabbit, too, from being part manx, as they are built for speed.
I got a new kitten in February of 2001 - she's a Devon Rex. She's all white and her fur is kinky and short. She's the cutest. I need to get her fixed, though - she goes into heat about every 20 minutes. update: I did get her fixed. She's better now.
I also have another cat, sort of. His name is Bixo (pronounced BEEK-oh). He lives at my mom's house in Mason, Ohio, because he's a raging asshole if he doesn't get to go outside incessantly. He's a much happier cat, now - all cuddly and purry when I visit (I think I heard him purr three times before he moved to Ohio). Anyway, he adopted me on October 27th, 1997. He's a crazy little thing. He has big swirls on his sides, as he is apparently very American Shorthair (He might even be full-blooded - He's a stray, so we'll never know, I guess)
You can see lots of pictures of me and my various tattoos and piercings and such in the pictures area. Some of them are gone, now (labret - too fussy. tongue - chipped two teeth in one year...fuck that.) but most are still around, scaring old ladies :)
boinger FAQ
- What sort of music do you listen to?
It's hard to not be generic and say "everything" (except Kuntry). So, I'll just give a few of my favorites: Korn, negativland, Aphex Twin (and all of Richard's other aliases), Portishead, Massive Attack, Rob/White Zombie, Morphine, Cibo Matto, Butter 08, Tool, Roni Size, mu-ziq, Squarepusher, Mozart, Awex, Marilyn Manson, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Lard, Dead Kennedys, System of a Down, Pigface, Infinte Grey (hi, John!), Chemlab, Theremin music (I have one) - there are assloads more.
- Did/does that tongue thing hurt?
No.
- Did/does that ear stretching thing hurt?
No.
- Did/do your nipples hurt?
No.
- Did/does that labret thing hurt?
It hurt a /little/ when it was re-pierced. No it doesn't hurt now.
- Do tattoos hurt?
Depends. Apparently Upper backs aren't too bad (apparently, even though people often say that spinal tattoos are bad), but ribcage tats are fucking excruciating.
- Do you like little girls?
Yes. On bread with ketchup.
- Are you some sort of Satanist?
Yep. Citizen of the Infernal Empire!
- What size shoes do you wear?
46 euro
- Is boinger your real name?
Of course not. I just told you my name at the top of this page. I have been considering legally changing it, though.
- How did you get that name?
Long, anti-climactic story. I was in theater in high school. They're freaks. What can I say?
- Do people actually call you that?
Yes. Many of my friends do. In fact, almost everyone in my office does, too. I'll often introduce myself as boinger, actually. This is for a variety of fairly mundane reasons. Mostly it's just convenience and comfortability. There are some people (not close friends, of course) who don't know me as anything else.
- Is that girl who's back is on the pictures page your girlfriend?
No. It even says she's my ex. It's a cool tat, I paid for it, I want to show it to people.
- Do you really play golf?
I certainly do. When i first played, I truly expected to hate it. I had so much fun that I play regularly, now. It all depends on who you play with. I golf with my friends and family, and we always have a great time.
- Are you getting married?
I was engaged, yes. I am not engaged any more. Things don't work out sometimes between people. I wish her the best, and some day she'll find someone who will make her happy, and they'll be all giggly in love with each other. I'm just not that person.
- What kind of motorcycle is that?
I ride a Harley-Davidson 2001 FXSTD Softail Deuce. This one replaced my 2000 that San Francisco stole. I'll have pictures up one of these days. Notably, that link is to the current model year Deuce page - they haven't changed it much since its introduction. Because it's perfect. (ha!)
- You look kind of scary. Are you mean?
My friends think the fact that people are sometimes afraid of me to be positively hysterical. Take what you will from that.
That's about it for now, i guess. Stay tuned.
